The NHGRI Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) is a standing committee charged with providing independent review of investigator-initiated clinical research in the intramural program of the National Human Genome Research Institute to ensure the safety of participants and the validity and integrity of data. The NHGRI DSMB operates according to an established charter and is comprised of a core group of individuals. Board members have expertise in clinical medicine, genetics, statistics, and research ethics. Ad hoc members may be added to complement the expertise of the core DSMB members and provide flexibility to address the landscape of intramural clinical research.
